Daniel Day-Lewis 'set to star' as Celtic Football Club founder in new flick

London, Mar. 21 : Daniel Day-Lewis has reportedly been cast as Celtic football club founder Brother Walfrid in a new movie.

The 3 time Oscar-winning actor is expected to be sounded out for the role by director Peter Mullan, the Sun reported.

And film insiders say that the 55-year-old star would be the perfect choice to portray the Parkhead pioneer in a big-budget movie about the club founder.

One source said that they were thrilled that Day-Lewis had expressed an interest, as Brother Walfrid was a pivotal and charismatic figure in the history of Celtic and the Irish community in Scotland.

It's believed that Mullan is involved in the project with Rob Roy Films director Peter Broughan and scripts have already been written and discussions with Hoops bosses are ongoing.

Irish Marist priest Walfrid founded Celtic football club at St Mary's Church in the Calton, Glasgow, on November 6, 1887.
