Man claims he visited heaven and spoke to God while unconscious in hospital

London, May 3 : A man, whose heart stopped beating for hours, has claimed that he saw angels and spoke to God before unbelievably waking up in hospital and making a full recovery.

Just days before Christmas, Don Houston suffered a heart attack as he slept alongside his wife Rita, who awoke to find her 62-year-old husband with his tongue hanging and not breathing.

Frantically, she called 911 who gave her lifesaving CPR instructions over the phone but her efforts were in vain.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, where they needed to use a defibrillator on three occasions to stabilise his heartbeat.

Don was then taken to Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition and rushed to the ICU - but doctors were not certain if he would regain consciousness.

The doctors then told Don's wife that there was nothing they could do, at that point Rita asked if she could go into his room along with her family to pray.

As Don lay hooked up to a machine to keep his heart beating, they formed a circle around his bed and held hands to pray and Don, who has had a long history of cardiac problems, woke up.

He then went on to describe how he was greeted by angels in a white room and led back down to earth.

Don said that he was suddenly in a large white room, which was just white and everything was so surreal, so peaceful.

He asserted that it was not a dream, as it was so real and Angels were there and God spoke to him, the Mirror reported.

Don claimed that he was escorted through the "door of second chances" and back to his grief-stricken family, with the angel saying, "Don, come with me."

He added that when he went through the doorway that she said he started hearing the doctor's and nurses calling out his name.
