Godrej Agrovet CFO wins ICAI award

Kolkata, Jan 12 : The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), India's premier accounting and auditing body, conferred the 'CA CFO Award in the Agricultural sector' to S.Varadaraj, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL).

GAVL is a diversified agribusiness company and a subsidiary of Godrej Industries Ltd dedicated to improving the productivity of Indian farmers by innovating products and services that sustainably increase crop and livestock yields.

ICAI awards are instituted to recognize and honour the achievements of fellow chartered accountants who have created value to their company's stakeholders on a sustainable basis and who are exemplary role models.

Nominations for the CA CFO Awards were pursued from organisations across different sectors including Public Sector, Manufacturing, FMCG and others. They were evaluated by an esteemed jury chaired by Deepak Parekh on various parameters like management of financial risk, role in managing acquisitions, mergers, role in regulatory & legal compliances and other qualities.

Varadaraj is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and MBA in Finance with rich and varied experience of over 20 years in financial management, mergers & acquisition and other allied fields. He currently heads the Finance, IT and legal functions for Godrej Agrovet and plays a critical role in overseeing the functions for its subsidiaries and joint ventures as well.

Expressing his joy on receiving the award, Varadaraj said "Today the role of a CFO is no longer just having bird's eye view and overseeing finance functions. It is a much larger role of advisor and partner of the business. I believe this recognition is a result of my hard work, dedication to the profession and continued efforts to maintain high standards in professional conduct and significant contributions made in the growth of Godrej Agrovet."
