SMU announces 5th annual scholarship programme
The Directorate of Distance Education, Sikkim Manipal University recently announced the launch of the fifth 'National Level Vidyadeep Scholarship' for students who enroll in any of their distance education programmes by Jan' 31, 2014.
"This scholarship scheme aims to cater to the aspirations of lakhs of students, both working and self-employed, who wish to further their education and move ahead in life," said N S Ramesh Murthy, Director, Sikkim Manipal University Distance Education (SMUDE) speaking about the initiative.
The scholarships ranging from 15 percent to 100 percent fee waiver are available for students who have enrolled in the current admission drive, SMUDE informed.
The scholarship will depend on the marks secured by the student in the qualifying examination or the SMAT (Sikkim Manipal University Aptitude Test).
A student securing more than 90 percent in the qualifying examination will receive a 100 percent fee waiver; a student scoring between 80 and 90 percent will receive a 50 percent fee waiver and one scoring between 50 and 80 percent will receive a 15 percent fee waiver, the officials noted.
In case of the candidate scoring less than 50 percent he/she is also eligible for a 15 percent scholarship provided he/she clears the SMU-DE management aptitude test (SMAT).
Going by the scholarship norms, once the limited number of scholarships that each category has is exhausted, the candidate automatically qualifies for the next lower category, SMU-DE said.
"This aims to include a significant improvement in the user experience of EduNxt - our online learning platform that provides flexibility to student learning," Murthy added.
