My govt will speak for me: Devyani Khobragade

New Delhi, Jan 11 : A day after returning to her country, Indian diplomat in USA, Devyani Khobragade, who was charged with a visa fraud, arrested, strip-searched and then kept in a lock up with ordinary criminals in New York before her release last month, on Saturday said the Indian government will now speak on her behalf.

"I am thankful to all the people for the support they have shown towards me. But now, I will not comment on the issue any more. My government and my lawyer will speak on my behalf," said Khobragade.

Khobragade arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Friday.

Her father Uttam Khobragade received her at the airport.

Meanwhile, relationship between the US and India continued to remain bitter over the entire controversy surrounding the treatment meted out to Khobragade
as the Asian nation demanded US to withdraw a diplomat of her rank from Delhi, reports said on Friday.
