After bungalow, Kejriwal refuses duplex flats
After facing severe criticisms, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal has refused the two adjacent five-bedroom duplex houses on Bhagwan Das Road here, that was offered to him for his residence and office.
He has asked his government to look for smaller apartments.
Expressing his thoughts, Kejriwal on Saturday tweeted: "Many ordinary supporters were hurt by houses identified for me by delhi govt. As i have always said, i am noone. I am for their service..."
".... In accordance with their wishes, i give up these houses and will ask delhi govt to look for smaller house....," said the Delhi CM.
However, Kejriwal said he would require two adjacent houses in order to convert one of them as his office.
"....but friends, i wud need to have two adjacent houses, one of them as an office. Else i wud become ineffective," he tweeted.
The AAP party, which formed the Delhi government, has also come under attack for using government cars. Justifying the same, the AAP chief tweeted:" But friends, controversy arnd govt transport used by ministers is not rt. Ministers hv to use govt transprt for their work....."
Kejriwal said that he and his partymen were not against using government cars but were against the red beacon ones.
".....and we never ever said that we won't use govt transprt. We said we won't use lal battis. And we stand by that," he said.
"Lot of people have worked v hard and selflessly for this political revolution. I will try my best not to let their sacrifice go in vain," asserted Kejriwal.
Lending support to Kejriwal, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted: "I don't think anyone voted against Sheila Dikshit because of her residence so best to focus on what really matters rather than the fluff."
"No one will grudge Kejriwal a 5 bedroom home what they will grudge is poor delivery of election promises so just let him move in & govern," said he.
He had earlier refused the huge, sprawling bungalow of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit on 3, Motilal Nehru Marg in Lutyen's Delhi that had been housing the Delhi CMs for ages.
