BCCI moves SC against Lalit Modi
In a bid to prevent expelled Indian Premier League (IPL) former chief Lalit Modi from returning to the Indian cricket paradigm by becoming the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday moved the Supreme Court.
The BCCI has filed a petition in the apex court where it has said that Modi's association with the RCA will affect the Indian cricket body's image.
The result of the RCA election, which was held on Dec 19, might be announced on Jan 6.
Modi had contested the polls.
The BCCI on Dec 28 said it will take strict disciplinary action against any delinquent member sending a warning to the state cricket body.
"It was further decided that subject to the decision of the Supreme Court, strict disciplinary action should be taken against the delinquent member while protecting the interest of the game in the state of Rajasthan," said a statement issued by BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel earlier.
