Boogie-Woogie stars seek support from Kolkata

Kolkata, Dec 31 : The participants of the final round of the dance reality show Boogie-Woogie were in town to speak about themselves and seek support from the Kolkatans on Saturday.

One of the oldest dance reality shows on Indian television which made a comeback after a gap of three years, premiered on Dec 7 on Sony Entertainment Television with 16 participants in the age group of 6 to 14.

Interestingly, the seven out of sixteen contestants hail from the east zone giving east India more than 50 percent representation this season.

Here's a quick look into the profiles of the young talents competing for the top position:

Urgen Tenzing Lama
Age:10 years
Hometown: Darjeeling
Dance Style: Contemporary, lyrical hip-hop. Urgen draws inspiration from Michael Jackson and is learning dance from the age of 3. He wants to become a good dancer and his mother supports him in all his activities.

Abhishek Sinha
Age:11 years
Hometown: Jamshedpur
Dance Style: Hip-hop. Abhishek considers Hrithik Roshan as his idol when it comes to dancing. He is an extremely graceful dancer owing to his Bharatnatyam training that he has taken since three years of age. He also learns hip-hop from his brother at home.

Smriti Panda
Age:12 years
Hometown: Korseong, Darjeeling
Dance Style: Crumping, semi-classical, hip-hop. Smriti feels that she is born to dance. She is a trained in Odissi and Western dance (hip-hop, contemporary and salsa). She aspires to be a famous Bollywood actress.

Bebechana Gurung
Age:10 years
Hometown: Korseong, Darjeeling
Dance style: Hip-hop. Impressed by the expressions of Madhuri Dixit, Bebechana is learning Bharatnatyam and freestyle. She wants to be dancer, actor, singer, doctor, scientist, choreographer and a school teacher.

Ayush Singh
Age: 12 years
Hometown: Howrah
Dance style: Contemporary. Ayush dreams to be a dancer and an actor and earn name and fame throughout India. He wants to own a bike of his size.

Priyanka Tapadar
Age:12 years
Hometown: Howrah
Dance style: Contemporary, Bollywood, hip-hop. The drama queen, as she is called, wants to establish herself as a good choreographer and dancer. Priyanka is learning Kathak from the age of three and adores the dancing style of Remo Fernandes.

Chirasmita Rout
Age:10 years
Hometown: Balasore
Dance Style: Bollywood. The main driving force behind Chirasmita is her mother's dream to see her perform on television. She wants to be a dance teacher and a successful choreographer.

Boogie-Woogie airs on Sundays and Saturdays at 8:30 pm on Sony TV.
