Kirti Azad disappointed by response of Government on attacks on Indians abroad

New Delhi, Dec. 31 : Commenting on the recent attack on an Indian student in Melbourne, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Azad on Tuesday said he was very disappointed by the 'irresponsible behaviour' of the government and the ministry of foreign affairs.

"Many of our students were attacked there in the past too. Indians are not treated well in the many other places like the Middle East. I am very disappointed with the kind of behavior the government and foreign affairs ministry are displaying," said Azad.

"Until they take strict actions, students will keep on dying and Indians will keep on facing this. They have lost the spirit to protect the dignity of the nation," he said.

He further cited the example of Captain Sunil James who was falsely accused and kept in custody in Togo.

"They cannot protect the Indian people outside. Sunil James told everyone the way he was falsely accused and kept there. These cases are taking place everyday and they are not serious about it," he said.

"And it clearly shows their inefficiency. If they cannot protect Devyani, who is an Indian diplomat how are they going to protect the others. I feel sad about the action taken by them," he added.
