Adarsh issue will be resolved: Sonia

New Delhi, Dec 28 : A day after her son Rahul Gandhi said he does not agree with the decision of the Maharashtra cabinet to trash the Adarsh defence housing scam probe report, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said the issue will be resolved.


"Yesterday's (Friday's) meeting was on Lokpal and inflation," said Sonia here adding that the issue of Adarsh scam,"has been decided yesterday and I think it will be resolved."

Attacked by corruption issues, the Congress supremo also called upon the media to look at other States too.

"I would ask the media to please look at other States led by other parties also, something about corruption.. among their (other parties) own friends and particularly among some of their ministers," she said.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Friday displayed a strong stance on corruption saying that he does not agree with the decision of the Maharashtra cabinet to trash the Adarsh defence housing scam probe report by a commission that indicted at least four previous Congress chief ministers.

"I don't agree with the decision of the Maharashtra cabinet...it must reconsider its decision," the Gandhi scion said at a press conference here.

Reacting to Rahul's comment, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said he will consult his colleagues on the matter as the Maharashtra Cabinet has rejected the Adarsh Commission report on the defence housing scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had chargesheeted 13 in the scam, including former chief minister Ashok Chavan, but Maharashtra governor K Sankarnarayanan denied the federal investigating agency any permission to prosecute him.

Adarsh, the 30-storey apartment building , housing many top level defence officials, was built on a disputed army land at Colaba in Mumbai and it is alleged that the flats meant for the families of the Kargil martyrs were allotted to top defence officials and kins of politicians.
