Taj Hotels feature on world's best hotels lists

Mumbai, Dec 27 : The Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur has been placed among the top 50 hotels for 2014 by The Travel + Leisure's 500 World's Best List 2014.

Also, Conde Nast Traveler has featureed the property in its Platinum Circle (with a score of 92.4) - a list of hotels that have made it to the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List for 5 years in a row.

Set against the majestic Aravalli Hills on one side and lofty palaces on the other, this one-of-its-kind architectural marvel seems magically afloat over 4 acres.

Complete with ponds for courtesans to frolic in, Taj Lake Palace has been continuously lived in since 1746. Built by Maharana Jagat Singh II, the 62nd successor to the royal dynasty of Mewar, this elegant fantasy in white marble basks in regal splendour.

Once the sole preserve of princes and kings, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, too, has cemented its position among the top hotels in world. This golden-hued monument made of desert sandstone features high on the Travel + Leisure's 500 World's Best List 2014 with a score of 95.33.

Other Taj Group properties, the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi, and the Rambagh Palace, Jaipur were also placed on both, the Conde Nast Traveler USA Gold List 2013 and Travel + Leisure's 500 World's Best List 2014.

Highlighting the best hotels in the world, the annual Gold List is compiled by Conde Nast Traveler editors and travel experts, using six criteria including ambience and design, location, food, rooms, leisure facilities and service.

Travel + Leisure conducts its annual survey through its magazine and website so readers can vote for their favourite hotels.
