Assam: 4 militants killed in clash

Guwahati, Dec 27 : At least four militants were killed in a clash between two rebel groups in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Friday morning, officials said.


After the incident, suspected militants torched at least 30 houses at seven villages of Rengma community in the district.

The incident took place at the remote Khuwani village near Chakihola in the hill district, the bordering area of Nagaland, on the wee hours of Friday.

"At least four militants of Rengma Naga Protection Force (RNPF) were killed in the clash between Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) and RNPF in the remote of the district," a top police official said.

The deceased militants were identified as Renso Nendu, Lagu Nendu, Neishengla Nendu and Khethong Kemp.

After the clash, suspected Karbi militants attacked nearest Rengma community villages and torched several houses.

Top police official rushed to the area and launched an operation against the militants.
