Superstar Salman Khan turns 48

Mumbai, Dec 27 : Bollywood's most eligible bachelor and heartthrob of the nation Salman Khan turned 48 years of age on Friday.

According to Mid-Day reports, Salman had a grand birthday bash last night at his Panvel farmhouse. The actor's close buddies from the film industry like Aamir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala joined the celebrations.

The 'Dabangg' star intended to make it large on his 48th birthday celebrations as he also invited Bigg Boss 7 contestants Elli Avram and Armaan Kohli, his upcoming film Jai Ho's new singer-composer duo Armaan and Amal Malik.

Some of the other guests spotted at the party were Boney Kapoor, Ramesh Taurani and Kabir Khan among others.

Wishing Salman on his birthday, actress Neha Dhupia tweeted:"Happy birthday to the biggest boss @BeingSalmanKhan !!!"

The actor, who made fictional characters of Chulbul Pandey and Lovely Singh (among others) almost come alive, started his career with 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' but it was his second film as 'Maine Pyar Kiya' in which he acted in a lead role, garnered him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Some of his initial successful films include Khan 'Saajan' (1991), 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' (1994), 'Karan Arjun' (1995), 'Judwaa' (1997), 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' (1998), 'Biwi No.1' (1999), and 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' (1999).

He bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his extended guest appearance in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' (1998).

The year 2009 marked a significant turning point in Salman's career, as his film 'Wanted', directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva, became a box-office success and earned him the superstar status.

Besides acting, he is also philanthropist and started an NGO Being Human Foundation, which is a registered charitable trust, for helping the cause of the underprivileged. His brand 'Being Human' sells T-shirts and other products online and in stores, from which a portion of the sales go to the cause of supporting the underprivileged.
