Maharashtra CM rejected Adarsh report: Pawar

Mumbai, Dec 26 : With the Maharashtra government rejecting the Adasrh scam probe report, Congress ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday distanced itself from the issue.


Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar said: "The decision was taken by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who us the head of the Cabinet."

The Maharashtra Cabinet has rejected the Adarsh Commission report on the defence housing scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had chargesheeted 13 in the scam, including former chief minister Ashok Chavan, but Maharashtra governor K Sankarnarayanan denied the federal investigating agency any permission to prosecute him.

Adarsh, the 30-storey apartment building , housing many top level defence officials, was built on a disputed army land at Colaba in Mumbai and it is alleged that the flats meant for the families of the Kargil martyrs were allotted to top defence officials and kins of politicians.
