"With it (the campaign), we aim to highlight the faces of those who are affected by climate change on the one hand, and also the faces of those who are doing something to mitigate climate change," read EDN's press release.
The event saw three fashion shows choreographed by ex-model and artist Pinky Kenworthy where models wore designs of designer Abhishek Dutta, lifestyle and fair trade store, Sasha and designer Sanjukta Roy.
While Abhishek Dutta's collection comprised organic linen and cotton, Sasha showcased a collection made from recycled fabric and running stitch, rendering the traditional 'Kantha' a contemporary look.
Sanjukta Roy's collection focused on 'gamchhas' (cotton towels) and 'lungis', with accessories made from scraps of fabric.
Hair and make up had been done by the June Tomkyns team of Priscilla and Sharon.
The organic brunch included a spread of Continental breads, soups, salads, Continental and Indian main courses, sea food counters, chart stations, kid's counter, organic Italian counter, pizzas, desserts, and an assortment of organic cheese.
Director of Food and Beverages, Swissotel Kolkata, Joyjit Chakravorty said that 'The Face of Climate' campaign was, "an initiative of the Swissotel Group to bring people under one roof, so that they can enjoy wholesome organic food. It tastes better and it is healthy."
Chakravorty said that their menu was designed around organically grown products and that they had been purchased from certified organic farms.
"In keeping with the theme, we also have our boys wearing shirts made from organic cotton," he added.
The event included the participation of other enterprises-Living Free, Casa Puro, Green Mall, Pukhraj Health Care Limited, Kamuuda, Maka Maka, Kadam, Earth Craft and Organic Mandi.
Earth Day Network is a Non-Governmental Organization that was formed on the first Earth Day on April 22,1970.
