'Star-studded' PSPB defends national badminton titles

New Delhi, Dec 20 : Petroleum Sports Promotion Board has won the national team championship doubles title for the 15th straight year in the Inter State-Inter Zonal badminton championship being played at the Siri Fort Sports Complex.

The men's team led by Sourabh Varma had an easy passage in the doubles as they won 3-1 to capture the Rahimtoola Cup, and the women's team also did not have to do much work in their 2-0 win.

In the women's final, PV Sindhu showed where she belonged among the elite as she outclassed national champion Sayali Gokhale 21-16, 21-17.

Ashwini Ponappa and Jwala Gutta then beat Saili Rane and Sanyogita Ghorpade 21-12, 21-12 to complete the scoreline.
