INIFD names Prasenjit as fashion icon for Bengal

Kolkata, Dec 20 : The International Institute of Fashion Designing (INIFD) on Thursday felicitated Tollywood superstar Prasenjit Chatterjee as the 'Fashion Icon of Bengal' here.


INIFD on Thursday marked their annual Graduation Day with a fashion show 'Tomorrow Makers 2013-2014' unveiling several interesting and path breaking themes like Runaway Bride, Lashmi Bai Reincarnated, Tic-tac-Toe, Forlorn, Enchanted Princess, Sita Sawamvar, Checkmate, Pop Cube, Masquerade Ball, Circus, Raw to Furnish, Punk and Antagonist.

Prasenjit Chatterjee said, "I couldn't say no to this program because I believe in new generation. I believe in one thing, that is, I should come to this show because Kolkata is lagging behind in fashion and we should join hands and prove this wrong."

"This was one of our major events where the graduating students showcase their collections. These collections are totally done by students, right from the designing to cutting, stitching and finishing of the garments," said Susan Mantosh, director of INIFD.

The background of the show was choreographed by Anandi Ghose.

Antagonism being one of the stylish themes, was based on the ideas of deconstructing the main ideas.

Whereas Circus being another theme comprised of fabrics like satin and cotton along with georgette, net and satin georgette.

On the other hand Check mate was inspired from the game of Chess.

The judges who judged the upcoming designers were Dimpy Mahajan, Richa Sharma, Deejay Claire, Kanchona Maitra and Chinmoy Roy.
