Allan Donald compares Kohli to Sachin following 'career-best' ton in Proteas Test opener

Johannesburg, Dec 19 : Former South African fast bowler Allan Donald, who is now the team's bowling coach, has compared Indian batsman Virat Kohli to retired batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar following Kohli's career-best 119 on the opening day of the first Test between India and South Africa at the Wanderers on Wednesday.

Kohli has taken over Tendulkar's number four position in the batting line-up following the retirement of Test cricket's leading run-scorer, and his skill, grit and determination have drawn comparisons with the Little Master.

According to Sport24, Donald has noticed similarities between the two Indians having played against Tendulkar many times, and mentioned that Kohli reminds him of Tendulkar in the way he plays for his team when the 'chips are down'.

Stating that Kohli has made a statement in the opening day of the first Test against South Africa, Donald also said that the batsman left well, punished the bad balls, and also paced his innings well, adding that he showed real fight and was disciplined and aggressive when he needed to be.

Kohli was also delighted with the innings, describing it has his best in Test cricket and one that fulfilled a long-held dream of scoring a ton in South Africa.
