Jammu students meet governor after 'Sadhbhavana' tour

Jammu, Dec 16 : A group of 25 students from Jammu and Kashmir interacted with state Governor N.N. Vohra Monday after returning from an educational tour organised by the Rashtriya Rifles under operation 'Sadhbhavana' (Harmony).


The 12-day educational tour of Maharashtra was organised by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles (Bihar) of the Indian Army.

The students, who hailed from the Bhaderwah area of Jammu's Doda district, visited various places of historical and cultural significance in Mumbai and Pune.

Sharing their travel experiences with the governor, the students expressed their gratitude to the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and termed the tour a lifetime opportunity.

The students said the tour had brought more discipline into their conduct.

On being asked by the governor about the places which had appealed to them the most, the majority of them mentioned the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, College of Military Engineering, Pune and Nehru Planetarium in Mumbai.

The students also had a chance to visit Mumbai's Yash Raj Studios, where they were briefed on various aspects of film making.

The group also visited the Sinhgad Fort, Aga khan Palace, Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, Shaniwar Wada, Vishrambag Wada, and Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.

In Mumbai, they paid obeisance at the Haji Ali Masjid and Mahalaksmi Narayan Temple. The group also visited the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Juhu Beach, IMS Vikrant Museum, Hanging Garden, Fashion Street, Worli Sea Link and IIT Powai.

The governor presented a memento to each student on their visit to the Raj Bhavan and wished them a bright future ahead.
