Bengal minister escapes unhurt in accident
North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb Sunday had a close shave when his car slipped off a narrow hilly road in Darjeeling district and its two wheels dangled over a gorge, police said.
Kurseong sub-divisional police officer Nima Bhutia said Deb, who was returning to Siliguri after a public meeting at Pokriabung, escaped unhurt as the driver applied the brakes to stop the car immediately.
