Accompanying visiting Pakistan Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to a private sector biomass plant in Muktsar district's Channu village, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said these plants made optimum use of agriculture waste for converting it into energy.
The 15 MW biomass plant, set up here by Universal Biomass Energy Pvt Ltd at a cost of Rs.100 crore, consumes 500 tonnes of bio-waste per day.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan's Punjab would like to share the technology on biomass plants and Badal assured all kind of technical support and expertise for setting up such power plants in the province.
Badal said with starting of this project, agriculture waste like paddy straw, wheat straw, cotton sticks, dry leaves and others bio-wastes which were earlier of no use were now proving beneficial for the farmers.
