Be it as a result of contractual obligations or other circumstances that came in the way, Madhuri has been one celebrity guest conspicuous by her absence on a platform dedicated to the celebration of excellence in dance.
The gorgeous screen goddess will soon be seen on DID at 9 pm on Saturday promoting her next big-ticket release Dedh Ishqiya.
Her visit to the sets of the show stirred up a lot of excitement amongst the judges, host and the contestants of the show.
Master Shruti Merchant, who has had the privilege of choreographing Madhuri in Aaja Nachle, says, "It's a towering responsibility on any choreographer's shoulders to work with Madhuri as it is criminal not to leverage her immense prowess as a dancer and extract her absolute best.
"The challenge with her is to present her in a breathtaking manner that she has so far not been seen in! And reinventing Madhuri who has already displayed such vast range and versatility is never easy! The bottom line is it's a delight and an honor to work with her! "
Master Feroz reveals, "Madhuri and I have danced together in Kay Sera Sera... I was a background dancer back then ... In fact, there's a prominent portion of the song where she punches me in the face.
"I remember she was unwell when she came down to learn the choreography from Prabhu sir and despite that, she had the entire number firmly set and in smooth sync within hours of her first briefing."
During her visit, Madhuri was enthralled by the sheer brilliance of the dancing talent on the show.
Blushing on seeing every crew member on the sets wearing 'I love Madhuri' tags around their necks, Madhuri told Grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty, "Dada, I have followed your show over the years. It's simply commendable how each season of the show manages to outdo the previous in terms of setting higher and higher benchmarks of excellence in dance.
"The kind of talent you guys unearth is spectacular ... I have particularly followed DID L'il Masters and Supermoms and thoroughly enjoyed the seasons. I love DID and would love to congratulate the team that works on the show for a brilliant job!"
Madhuri was particularly impressed with Shrishti and Suniketa from Master Shruti Merchant's team who performed to O re piya around a cannon wheel prop weighing over 250 kgs ... the fine balancing act, the aerial swings, the weight the two young girls had to bear on their shoulders at different points during the act, yet the manner in which they kept their expressions in place and danced in perfect synchronization had Madhuri simply floored!
Swarali and Dheeraj from Master Mudassar's team brought alive the magic of her romantic song from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun - Pehle Pehla Pyaar Hai atop a giant replica of a ship blending it with the essence of the famous Titanic love song 'My heart will go on'.
Overwhelmed at these creative interpretations of her classic numbers, Madhuri spoke to Marathi mulgi Swarali in chaste Marathi and complimented them on a wonderful performance.
