The pro-CPI (M) Students Federation of India (SFI) in Kerala today demanded ouster of Calicut University Vice Chancellor M Abdul Salam, embroiled in illegal government land allocation case.
Talking to reporters, State President Shijugun said Dr Salam has no right to continue in office in the wake of the Thissur Vigilance Court ordering a probe into allocation of land to a private engineering college run by Al-Hind Educational and Charitable Trust backed by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a partner in the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government in the state.
He accused Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Education Minister P K Abdu Rubb of 'facilitating' the IUML leaders and the VC to indulge in corrupt practices.
The organisation will launch agitations highlighting issues relating to higher education in the state in November and December, he said.
