CPI leader Karunakaran passes away
Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and former Peravoor Panchayat president C Karunakaran Nair died this morning at Thalassery General Hospital due to age-related illness.
He was 83. He is survived by his wife Kamalakshi and five children, including one daughter.
The funeral was held this evening, family sources said.
Nair served as the Peravoor Panchayat President for 16 years between 1967 to 1983.
He was also known as the cooperative movement leader and served as the Peravoor Milk Productive Cooperative Unit President and one of the directors of Urban Bank.
CPI State Assistant Secretary C N Chandran paid last respects to the departed leader.
