Former British prime minister Gordon Brown met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Wednesday and discussed issues related to universalisation of primary education.
Brown underlined the need for meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for education by 2015.
The MDGs are eight international development goals that were officially established following the Millennium Summit of the UN in 2000, following the adoption of the United Nations Millennium Declaration.
Brown stressed the need of enhancing quality in higher and technical education apart from school education and offered technical know-how.
Dikshit said that smart classes were being introduced to make learning interesting and informative in schools.
The issues were discussed in a meeting of Brown with a delegation of Global Business Consortium with Dikshit and other ministers and officials at the Delhi Secretariat.
