Maoist guerrillas killed an assistant sub-inspector of police in Chhattisgarh Wednesday, a day after he was abducted from a forested area, police said.

Assistant sub-inspector Nilesh Pandey was posted at Farasgarh police station, around 60 km from the Bijapur district headquarters. He was killed by members of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist, police said.

"Pandey was abducted by guerrillas Tuesday when he was on way to Farasgarh from Bijapur on a passenger bus to resume duty after leave," officials at the police headquarters here told IANS.
