Court summons Kerala Minister Jayalakshmi

Kerala Scheduled Tribes Welfare and Youth Affairs Minister P K Jayalakshmi was issued summons by a Magistrate Court here today for allegedly filing false information in a affidavit prior to the assembly poll in the state.

The Mananthawadi Judicial First Class Magistrate ordered issuance of summons to Ms Jayalakshi to be present in the court on December 28 for allegedly submitting false information regarding election expenditure in the affidavit filed along with the nomination papers of the preridus assembly poll.

The summons was issued by Magistrate C Deepu following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by pro-CPI (M) Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) Sulthan Bathery Village Committee Secretary K P Rajeevan.

She had also given wrong information regarding her educational qualification, he alleged.

The court had earlier dismissed the petition on this count.

Meanwhile, the CPI (M) today demanded resignation of Ms Jalayalakshmi, representing Mananthawadi in the state assembly, in the wake of the court summons to her.

Talking to reporters party Wayanad district Secretary A K Saseendran said she had no right to continue in office for violating norms.
