Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said the state government would prepare a 'Kandi Area Development Plan', the budgetary provision for which would be kept in the coming fiscal year.

Addressing a gathering after laying down the foundation stone of developmental works worth Rs 26 crore here, the Chief Minister said that the state government was well aware of the needs and the difficulties faced by the people of the area adding that no stone would be left unturned for finding some viable solution for them.

Mr Badal said that recently during his Sangat Darshan program of the Dasuya assembly segment he had been able to fairly understand the problems of this area, which had been hitherto neglected by the Congress governments.

He said that he had already asked the officers of the state government for chalking out the blueprint of the comprehensive 'Kandi Area Development plan', which would be instrumental in giving facelift to the entire area.

Mr Badal reiterated that there was vast scope for the development of Food Processing Industry in the region for which untapped potential of cultivation of Mango, Amla, Lemon and other medicinal plants needed to be explored.

He said that in order to encourage the farmers of the region for the cultivation of these commercial crops the state government was contemplating to set up a Research and Training Institute for Natural Bio-sources Food Processing at Talwara for which a plan of nearly Rs six crore had been formulated by the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
