Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today ordered provision of Rs 38.13 crores as advance to sugar mills to avoid delay in payment of remunerative price for the farmers.
An official statement here said this would ease the burden of farmers, whose payment of remunerative price from the sugar mills were delayed to various factors.
It said the sugar mills were facing financial burden in the form of payment of interest for the loans borrowed and increase in volume of traffic which, in turn, resulted in delayed payment to the farmers.
To overcome this delay, the Chief Minister today sanctioned Rs 38.13 crore as advance to three sugar mills.
While Rs 17.34 crores would be provided to NPKRR Sugar Mills, Rs 14.29 crore would be given to Tiruttani Sugar Mill.
