Pondy to be connected with Mumbai by rail
Puducherry will be connedcted with Mumbai by rail with the flagging off an express train here tomorrow evening, Union Minister of state for Prime Minister's Office V Narayanasamy said here today.
Talking to newspersons, Mr Narayansami said the train which would pass through Bangalore, Pune and reach Dadar would be a boon to the peopel of Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharastra.
The service would be available three days in a week.
Puducherry was already connected with New Delhi, Kolkotta, Bangalore, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar and Tirupathi, he said.
Mr Narayansamy said the bio-toilet designed by the military would be installed at ten places in Puducherry with a fund allocation of Rs 50 lakh from the MP Area Development fund.
He said Central Atomic Energy Department would provide protected drinking water in ten high and higher secondary schools in Karaikal while the Central Space Department would install information centers at 25 places in Puducherry. This would be in association with the M S Swamnathan Research Foundation, he said, adding the public could get government documents from these centers.
