Vijayamma lashes out at Cong govt

YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma today found fault with the Andhra Pradesh government for its lackadaisical approach in undertaking rehabilitation measures in the flood affected areas.

Speaking to mediapersons after visiting several submerged areas and crops in and around Eluru in West Godavari district, Ms Vijayamma said Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and other ministers considered their visits to Delhi as more important than to attend to the flood victims.

"There is no response from the government at all to the flood till now. Despite the weather department's warnings, the Government totally failed to anticipate the seriousness of the situation and come to the rescue of the people to reduce the loss of lives and property," she lamented.

Flaying the state government's negligence towards the construction of the Tammileru Protection Wall, Ms Vijayamma said an amount of Rs 19 crore was released by here husband and former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for the purpose.

She said her party would exert pressure on the Congress government to ensure proper compensation is paid to the flood victims. "We will stand by you. Our party leaders and activists will participate in the rehabilitation activities," she assured the flood victims.
