Leader of Opposition and former Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam today alleged that Tamil Nadu government is creating crisis for Puducherry government at the instigation of AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazahgan.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Vaithilingam said the Tamil Nadu government had filed a case against Puducherry for not paying power tariff arrear of Rs 900 crore.
The Puducherry administration had paid Rs 20 crore and sought time from the court, Mr Vaithilingam said.
The Tamil Nadu government was not at all considering Puducherry as a state but as a company, he alleged.
The power tariff was being charged at the rate of a company, he added.
Mr Vaithilingam said there was an agreement between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and as per it Puducherry should get 75 MW from stage one of Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Tamil Nadu should take only wheeling charges.
The collection of huge power tariff was wrong as per the laws, he said and alleged that this was being deliberately done to create crisis for Puducherry administration.
The Puducherry administration should move the Supreme Court against this, he said.
Mr Anbazhagan should lead a delegation to Chennai and talk to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
