Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into the mysterious death of Kanas Community Health Centre lady doctor Madhavilata Pradhan.
According to Crime Branch sources a team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police had been constituted to probe the incident.
The team would function under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police Crime Branch.
Dr Pradhan, who left for her work place Kanas on October 12 last from Madhupur under Kumbharpada Police station, did not return home.
Her brother lodged a missing report with the Kumbharapada Police station on the same night.
But police failed to trace her for fifteen days even though the GRP found her body from a railway track near the Malatipatpur railway station on October 12 last.
The GRP later sent the body to District Headquarter hospital Puri for Post morterm where the body was prserved for three days after buried as no one claimed.
The post-morterm revealed that she had 19 injuries marks on her body. The GRP later claimed that the medico had committed suicide. Her body was burried but later found missing from the burial ground.
The GRP Investigating officer failed to trace the body The Opposition Congress alleged that the Lady doctor was transferred from Rebena Nuagaon to Kanas violating the rule and said she was harassed and murdered.
The Women Congress which staged a protest demonstration demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI alleging that some ruling Party leaders were behind it.
The student wing of the Congress Party also held a candle light procession in Bhubaneswar yesterday in support of the demand and sumitted a memorandum to the Governor.
State Commission for Women Chairperson Jyoti Panigrahi had started inquiring into the incident and visited the relatives of the lady doctor twice and the Puri District Headquarer Hospital.
