CPM holds dharna

The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today held a dharna infront of the head post office to press their demands.

They were demanding among other things holding of CBI probe into the Yanam industrial violence under the supervision of Madras High Court,reopening of Yanam Regency Ceramics,provision of Rs.10 lakhs compensation to the family of trade union leader Murali Mohan killed in the violence and posting a 'clean' I A S officer as Yanam regional administrator.

Meanwhile, the Puducherry unit of the Republican Party of India (RPI-Atwale) today held a demonstration near the Swadeshi Cotton Mills to condemn the state election commission in the alleged 'irregularities' in providing reservation and reduction of general seats.
