Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar inaugurated the Rs 1300 crore Hippargi lift irrigation project and other development projects at Athani taluk in Belgaum district today.
Incidentally, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who has threatened to break away from the BJP and form him own party, was also present during the Chief Minister's tour.
More than 1.8 lakh hectare of agriculture land would get irrigation benefit in this project.
Mr Yeddyurappa, when he was the chief minister had released Rs 1008 crore for the project, which helped the project to be completed successfully, Mr Shettar said at the function.
The Chief Minister said the winter session of the Karnataka legislature would be held at the newly build Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum city during November end or December first week.
