BJP to decide on Gadkari's 2nd term as party president: RSS
Distancing itself from the allegations levelled on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday, made it clear that it is up to the BJP to decide about a second term for him as party president.
Talking to media after conclusion of the three-day National Executive Council meeting of RSS, General Secretary Suresh Joshi said: "It is not an issue of RSS. Political parties have their own system and their core group. We are not playing any role."
Responding to other posers Joshi said that the meeting did not discuss anything else about Gadkari since the allegations are yet to be proven.
Reiterating the RSS stand against corruption, Joshi said: "a thorough probe was required on the charges against the BJP President but the allegations had not been proven."
The BJP president who is keen on an extended tenure as party president is gearing up to arm his battery of lawyers to defend him in the alleged financial impropriety.
Gadkari has been plagued by allegations of financial irregularities and also accused of allowing dubious funding in his business ventures Purti Group.
