Govt stalling functioning of Backward Class Commission: DMK
DMK State Convenor M A S Subramanian today alleged that All India N R Congress (AINRC) Government is intending to stall functioning of Backward Class Commission here.
In a statement here, Dr Subramanian said the commission was constituted by then DMK Chief Minister R V Jankiraman in 1999 which enabled the Most Backward class and Backward class to get due reservation in employment and education.
However, presently as the government had failed to appoint members for the commission, it could not function and act even though it was apprised of the grievances, he said and condemned the attitude of the government.
He alleged that even after ten months of expiry of the term of previous members, the administration had failed to appoint new members hindering to assess whether the most backward class and backward class were getting due reservation. For this the government should shoulder full responsibility, he said.
