MMK to camdpaign against retail FDI
The Manithaneya Makkal katchi is going to launch a three-day state-wide campaign against the Union Government's move to allow the Foreign Direct Investment into the Country's retail trade, from November 23.
Announcing this at a press conference here today, Party Leader Jawahirullah, MLA, said during the campaign hand bills will be distributed door to door and all the business concerns explaining the disadvantages of the FDI, seeking people's support in this connection.
Since the Union Government's move would severely affect domestic retailers, the Union Government should give up its move to allow the Foreign Direct Investment into the Country's retail trade.
He said the party is also going to hold state wide demonstration in January next to urge the Tamil Nadu Government to introduce total prohibition in the state. As part of their demonstration progrramme, they will also hold demonstration infront of the factories manufacturing Indian made Foreign Liquor.
He took strong exception to State Excise Minister Natham Viswanathan's reported reply to Party M L A Ashlam Batch's demand for introducing total prohibition in the state on the floor of the State Assembly and also condemned the Minister's reply.
He also appealed to Chief Minister J Jayalithaa to take suitable preventive measures for arresting the spread of dengue besides sanctioning adequate relief to the affected people.
He also wanted speedy relief works and compensation for 'Nilam' cyclone affected farmers and general public.
