A Chennai based SRM University President Sathyanarayana today donated a six-year old baby elephant to Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple at Tiruchanur.
This is the first elephant for this temple which will be henceforth used in all temple events.
This elephant, which was brought from Assam after taking government permission, was donated to the temple by the hands of TTD Executive Officer LV Subrahmanyam.
Mr Subrahmanyam said that this pachyderm will be used in the procession of Sri Padmavathi brahmotsavams which will commence from November 10.
The little elephant is christened as 'Srinidhi' by the TTD EO.
With this, the total number of elephants in the TTDs Sri Venkateswara GO Samrakshanashala has gone up to eight, a release here said.
The release said the TTD is planning to commence 'Gaja Vahana Seva' either during every Pournami or on the birth star of Padmavathi Ammavaru in Tiruchanur on the lines of Pournami Garuda Seva at Tirumala. This elephant will be used during these Vahana Sevas.
