The Karnataka High Court today pulled up Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for the massive garbage pile up across the city that had attracted international glare.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen sent a strong warning to the BBMP Commissioner and even stated that the court will not hesitate even to supercede if immediate action was not taken to clear the garbage.
Questioning Commissioner Rajanish Goel, who was present in the Court, as to the problem he is facing in clearing the garbage, Chief Justice Sen said 'either take quick action to clean the city or face the consequences.' Advocate G R Mohan, in a public interest litigation, has alleged that the BBMP has failed to find a solution to clear the garbage and the Palike should be superseded.
Justice Sen directed BBMP to submit a report by November 5 on action taken and adjourned the case for further hearing on that date.
Chief Justice Sen asked 'what is the problem in providing good administration, let us know whether any corporators are coming in the way of clearing the garbage and will not hesitate to supersede the BBMP if things continues like this.'
