Widespread protest against attack on Brahmins
The attack on a group of Brahmins by Telugu film actor Vishnu's security men in front of the actor's residence in Hyderabad last night, led to widespread protests by the Brahmin associations in Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts.
The agitators were protesting against the actor's film 'Denikaina Ready'.
Brahmins held a dharna at Alankar theatre last night here and torn the wall poster and banners of the film. They also tried to barge into the theatre but the police prevented them.
In Guntur, a Brahmin youth held dharna in front of Naj Apsara theatre where the film was being screened. Slogans were raised against film producer Mohan Babu and his son Vishnu.
Protestors burnt the effigy of Mohan Babu at Shankar vilas centre. Few Brahmins also sustained injuries when attacked by the actor's security men.
A huge rally was also taken out in Jaggyyapet town in Krishna district and a protest dharna was held in front of Municipal office by the angered Brahmins.
The Brahmins also held protest demonstration in front of Ambika theatre in Eluru in West Godavari district, demanding stopping the screening of the film in which Brahmin community was allegedly badly depicted, therefore, hurting their sentiments.
Condemning the attack on Brahmins by film actor Vishnu and his security guards, State Brahmin Seva Sangh secretary S Sridhar said the agitation against the films 'A Woman in Brahmanisam and Denikaina Reddy" would be intensified and they would also meet the Brahmins of all political parties and seek their help.
