CID, the longest running television show on Sony Entertainment Television, is all set to launch their first time ever regional Bengali version of CID with all new Bengali cast and crew.

During the promotion of the Bengali version in Kolkata end October, IBNS Correspondent Barshali Banerjee caught up with actor Shivaji Satam who has conquered audience heart with his powerful portrayal of ACP Pradyuman in the Mumbai CID team.

After running for almost 15 years, now CID bureau will be in Kolkata, do you feel it will get the same acclaim?

See, when the concept of making CID in Bengali came to our director B.P Singh's mind, we all knew that after a huge success of running CID in Hindi for near about 15 years, if the Bengali version wants to grab the attention of audiences it must have the worthy storyline and script and other elements, better than Hindi else the people will not accept it. So keeping it in mind powerful Bengali actors have been chosen. So I definitely feel this time CID Kolkata Bureau would be better than us.

What will be the storyline of CID Kolkata Bureau?

As it is the regional part of Hindi CID it will definitely have the similar storylines based on crime, how we solve it through the use of forensic science and the triumph of truth at the end of the day. Only change is made in the names of the characters here. In Bengali my counterpart ACP Birsingha will be played by Kaushik Chakraborty who I believe is a very good actor. Abhijeet and Daya's roles are named here as Ronojoy and Tej respectively.

Apart from CID when will the audience see you in the silver screen?

Although at present CID is the main priority to me, yet I am shooting for a nice Marathi film as well. I started my career from theatre but now because of my busy schedule I am not being able to make time for it, so I miss theatre a lot.

Is there any offer from the Bengali film Industry for you?

I acted in a Bengali film at a very early stage of my career, but as of now there are no offers from anyone. If I am given chance I will love to act for Bengali movie and utter the sweet language Bengali for which I have an immense respect.

In short how will you explain your and the 15 years' journey of the huge success of CID?

God loved and loved CID from the day one and still CID is the most loved show for the children and parents both. As of my part it is the team work that has made me grow day by day and definitely credit goes to Abhijeet, Daya and others who treat me like their elder brother.
