Orissa calls for Infra development to promote tourism
Odisha Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare-today said the development of infrastructures was conducive for the growth of tourism.
Inaugurating the 33rd edition of Kumar Utshav on the Puri beach here, Mr Bhandare said the beaches, art and craft of the state has made a place in the country and more and more visitors are coming to Puri.
It is imperative to patronise the institutions engaged in promotion of tourism and culture, he added.
Minister for tourism and culture Maheswar Mohanty said efforts were on to develop adequate infrastructure to promote the tribal tourism and the Budhist circuits.
He said a Marine Aquarium would be established in Puri while a craft display cum sale center, multi storied parking lot, and a museum would be build in the Jagannath Ballav mutt complex at a cost of Rs 30 crore tenders for which would be floated soon.
The illumination work around the sun temple at Konark temple would be completed soon, he said.
On the occasion, the Governor felicitated the Chief Editor of Odisha Television Soumyajit Pattnaik, noted wrestler Pankaj Pratihari and the General Manager of Vizag steel plant.
Eminent artistes presented Odissi dance ballet , Samablpuri folk dances,Giddha dance of Panjab and Bardoi Shikhia dance of Assam and Paika and Jhumar of Jharkhand on the inaugural day to entertain the visitors.
