Congress putting all weight behind CBI to check devp in Gujarat: Modi
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today alleged the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was putting its entire weight behind the CBI to check the development in his state, which was emerging as a model state across the country.
Addressing a BJP election rally at Kansa Choke area in Mandi district, Mr Modi said the nation faced worst power failure this year, affecting the lives of nearly 70 crore people in this age of Science and Technology. Within 10 days, then Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was elevated to the Home portfolio.
He said the entire north India was plunged into the darkness due to failure of UPA government to meet the country's power needs efficiently, but a few news editorials praised the Gujarat government for remaining unaffected from the power crisis.
Accusing UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of taking the credit of Rs 2000 crore financial assistance given by the Centre to Himachal Pradesh, he said Ms Gandhi and Dr Singh should know that the fund was not given as "dowry money" to the hill state but it equally deserved the money, being a part of India.
Cautioning the UPA to not warn the state governments in this manner, Mr Modi said every state has full right on the Central funds and the UPA did not provide these funds from its own kitty.
He warned the UPA that gone are days when it discriminated against states enforcing the Article 356 of the Constitution arbitrarily ousting the elected government from power in the state.
