Chaos and confusion marked the extraordinary general body meeting of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) convened here today under the supervision of Madras High Court-appointed Justice E Padmanabhan.

As soon as the meeting began, members indulged in wordy duel and noisy scenes were witnessed with allegations and counter allegations flying thick and fast even as heavy police bandobust was provided.

At one point, police deployed at the venue tried to pacify the members and held a dialogue with them.

The special meeting was convened after Madras High Court directed it to be held under the supervision of Justice Padmanabhan, a retired high court judge.

A group of producers, led by Keyar, had been insisting on the removal of Mr S A Chandrasekhar from the post of president.

At one point, police deployed at the venue tried to pacify the members and held dialogues with them.

A section of producers, led by Keyar, brought no-confidence motion against Council president Chandrasekhar.

He wanted everyone to participate in voting. Protesting this, Veteran Producer Kalaipuli Dhanu alleged attempts were being made to remove the team of office-bearers elected in a legitimate manner and walked out with his supporters.

After heated arguments, the meeting resumed and voting took place.

Talking to mediapersons, Justice Padmanabhan said, "The voting was peaceful. We will submit everything before the court. The results would be declared soon."
