BYJD demands Pyari Mohapatra's resignation from RS seat
Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), the youth wing of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), today demanded the resignation of dissident party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra from the Upper House of Parliament.
BYJD President and Government Deputy Chief whip Sanjay Dasburma told newspersons here that Mr Mohapatra who was elected to the Rajya Sabha twice on party ticket in 2004 and 2010 has no right to continue as a member of the Upper house as he was making uncharitable statements against party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Mr Dasburma said Mr Mohapatra became a subject of laughing stock after he tried unsuccessfully to dethrone the Chief Minister and capture power.
The BYJD president said now the suspended BJD MP was trying to organise a rally at Bhubaneswar to denigrade the party and defame the party President and asked Mr Mohapatra to resign from the membership of the Rajya Sabha.
Mr Mohapatra earlier alleged that there was no inner party democracy and he was trying to reform the party by organising the party workers.
He had also stated that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is no more the President of the BJD as the party state executive had not met since July 2010 to elect the President.
The BJD MP had floated Odisha Jana Manch, a forum to strengthen the inner party democracy and bring reform in the party which he alleged was not functioning as per the constitution of the party.
The OJM is holding a 'Kranti Samavesh' here on October 28 next where Mr Mohaapatra had said over 50,000 BJD workers would participate in the rally to voice their concern in the happenings in the party.
