Undertrial escapes from court premises
An Undertrial Kundan Kumar today managed to escape from the court premises soon after he was called to appear in the court.
Kundan Kumar was brought in the court from the Theh Kanjla modern jail, Kapurthala for appearance in a case of robbery and intoxicants registered against him under NDPS act and 382 at Basti Baba Khel police station on July 25 this year. The police removed handcuffs after he was taken to the court room from the Bakhshikhana.
As soon as his name was called for appearance, he was found missing from outside the court room. The police of Navi Baradari was informed immediately about escaping of the undertrial.
Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar of the Navi Baradari police station said appropriate action would be taken against the head constable Tejinder Singh, who is responsible for keeping a vigil on the under trials in the court, for dereliction of duty.
