Dara Singh fake encounter case: HC asks Rathore to surrender
The Rajasthan High Court today ordered BJP Chief Whip and former Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore to surrender before the trial court in the Dara Singh fake encounter case.
Setting aside the District and Sessions court's discharge order, Justice Ajay Rastogi of the High Court while acting on a petition filed by the CBI and slain liquor mafia functionary Dara Singh's wife Sushila, also directed the trial court to take due action if Rathore fails to comply by the court order.
Rathore was arrested by the CBI in the case in April and the District and Sessions Court had discharged him of the charges in the case at a pre-trial stage later in May earlier this year.
Dara Singh alias Daria, a criminal and functionary of liquor mafia in Churu district, was killed in a fake encounter on the outskirts of Jaipur about six years ago.
More than a dozen of the accused including suspended ADGP AK Jain, Inspector General M Punnuchami are accused in the case and presently are in the jail.
