Over 65 lakh tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

Government agencies and private millers procured more than 65,99,311 tonnes of paddy in Punjab till last evening.
The state government has set up more than 1770 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy.
An official spokesman said that out of total procurement, government agencies procured 61,25,207 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 4,74,104 tonnes of paddy.
PUNGRAIN procured 17,16,950 tonnes, MARKFED procured 14,00,597 tonnes whereas PUNSUP had procured 14,05,511 tonnes, PSWC procured 6,38,930 tonnes whereas PAFC was able to procure 6,48,956 tonnes of paddy, he said and added that the Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 3,14,263 tonnes.
He said that District Ferozpur with 6,62,446 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 5,63,822 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Ludhiana with 5,35,507 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
