Surat: Newborn thrown off building dies
Surat, Oct 26 (IBNS)
A one-day-old baby boy, who was thrown off the third floor of a building in Gujarat's Surat city by his mother on Thursday, died on Friday, said police.
The boy was admitted to a local hospital on Thursday after the incident.
The police said they are quizzing the baby's parents and a case will be registered against his mother Puja.
"The baby was thrown by a lady named Puja. We are investigating the reason for the same," police inspector MN Parmar told CNN-IBN.
The baby's mother said she threw the infant out in a state of confusion.
"I gave birth in washroom and got scared. I threw the baby out in state of confusion," Puja was quoted as saying to CNN-IBN.
The mother was found in an unconscious state on the third floor of the apartment and was taken to a hospital.
The doctors said her condition is serious.
